Our story
In May of 2022 we welcomed our third beautiful kiddo a baby girl “Willow Skye” into the world at just 36 weeks. We had no idea the adventures we would be in store for. We soon noticed after birth some features that we had not noticed with our boys. We found out in the hospital that she has Down syndrome. This was a lot to take in at first since throughout the pregnancy there was no mention. Our first concern was everything working as it should.
Children with Down syndrome have a 50% chance of having a heart defect. Willow is part of the 50% that does not. Through the diagnosis we have had to meet with lots of specialist to make sure she is taken care of whether that is her ears, eyes or more. Our life turned into lots of doctor visits but we will do whatever it takes for our girl. In our spare time we have been able to connect with other families within the Down syndrome community. The Raleigh area has a wonderful Down syndrome alliance. But what we’ve found is that there isn’t a ton of farms to go to that aren’t loud and crowded. We have begun to grow our farm to be a relaxing spot for families to come meet animals. Our daughter Willow adores the animals. We are excited to help teach her how to care for them as she grows. We are so happy to share our love for these animals with others.
We can’t wait to meet you all!
